Her transparent thin wings were flickering mildly as she was enjoying the view of that idyll. “Nothing could ever keep them apart!” echoed her snub-nosed fairy sisters lurking in the foliage. “What a nonsense!” murmured the Forest King who happened to stroll around nearby. He was wearing a long dusty gown covered in moss and spider net. On his head there was a crown made of crooked branches. He made his long peaky nose wry. “I have seen a lot of people. They all are light-minded, foolish, and vicious” “Yes, they are,” whispered the Lady of the Lake appearing from her lair, “human feelings are as feeble and unsteady as a ripple in the water.” Her long hair embellished with pearls was creeping and quivering on the water surface closely resembling tentacles. “Nothing could ever keep them apart!” went on fairies. “If so… if their love is real and unbreakable, then they will easily find the way out from my nets” hissed the lake maiden rubbing her icy delicate hands in anticipation of some amusement. “If their hearts are pure and clean, then they will easily go through any challenge.” laughed the wood spirit. Those two were much in habit of playing tricks on travelers recklessly entering their lands. Indeed, wood dwellers did not have many reasons to have fun apart from that. “If they fail, they will never escape and stay there forever and ever.” The Forest King got a handful of flower pollen out of his pocket and blew it on Eyna, and then the Lady of the Lake poured some water on Anvell. The lovers woke up. -- source link
