Justice for Albert Joseph DavisIn 2015, Albert Joseph Davis was at an apartment complex when a fight broke out. Police claim that Albert was one of the involved individuals, but family members say that the fight occurred before Albert arrived on the scene, and an officer told him that he could leave. Police further claim that Albert put up a violent fight, leading Officer Kelvin Vidro to use a taser, and then a gun when that was not effective. Family members object to this – the medical examiner’s report said there were no taser marks on Albert’s body, and he had been shot at a distance. Albert was unarmed, and was heading home; he was shot only a block away from his house. Despite the police’s insistence that it was a violent struggle, Officer Vidro had no injuries, which casts substantial doubt on their narrative. It is unconscionable that no action has been taken in Albert Joseph Davis’s case, and that the media has only reported the police’s version of the story. Officer Kelvin Vidro is still employed today.
