The golden moment that Tutankhamun’s coffin was discovered in Egypt in 1925 . ⚫Inside his giant red stone sarcophagus, which measures nearly 3 metres long and weighs well over a tonne, the wrapped mummy of Tutankhamun was buried in three separate coffins. ⚫The innermost coffin was made of solid gold,weighing 110.04kg. ⚫Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus (a box-like stone container) held not one but three coffins in which to hold the body of the king. ⚫The outer two coffins were crafted in wood and covered in gold along with many semiprecious stones, such as lapis lazuli and turquoise.
