It’s My Little Monday!With…G3 art pony AND Convention Pony! This is in a bit of response to “Whatever happened to…” As you’ve seen on earlier MLMs, there were the really large “The Pony Project” charity artist ponies, but, there was another very large pony mold made and done first! And, it’s this one! As you remember, all of TPP ones are standing with all feet flat and the head straight. The bottom pony is artist-designed on semi-transparent plastic. This alternate-big-one was seldom used (why? It’s so pretty!) but it seems like only 2 really big molds were ever done. Hasbro liked the art so well/the look of the pony that they actually did do a run of her.The top one is her from her exclusive convention run. When Hasbro had teamed up with/endorsed “The Pony Fair”, they promised everyone an all new pony every year that they would attend. It was to be a G3 in a fancy box similar to this one. Several of these were done, but this one seems to be the only one who had a ‘big size artist’ counterpart. It’s very interesting that they kept the sprays, semi-transparent plastic and the hair colors identical. (And that they didn’t try to cheap out) The only thing different seems to be the size and the pose. (The pose for all convention ponies was the “Hanger-hoof/bore-7 pose”) Is there only 1 of the huge one? (Probably) I do wonder where it went…Reminder: The charity was “Give kids the world village” and the big ones were 18 inches each. This one was PROBABLY not part of TPP, or it was some kind of ‘proto-try’ at what a big pony turns out like. She’s pretty with the magenta and maroon hair, plus the pretty sprays. The art on her is ‘pop art’ kind of, which is nice if you like the style. You can see why this one would get chosen to become a convention exclusive. -- source link
