Every Easter Monday the Village of Biddenden in Kent provides the Biddenden Dole- offerings of food
Every Easter Monday the Village of Biddenden in Kent provides the Biddenden Dole- offerings of food to the village’s elderly and those in need. As is tradition a Biddenden “cake” is also provided, cast in the likeness of Eliza and Mary Chulkhurst known locally as the Biddenden Maids. Born in circa 1100 Eliza and Mary were conjoined and lived until 34 years of age- donating their land to the poor from which this tradition sprang. Their likeness has been adopted as the village mascot and can be in many guises.- Biddenden England -- source link
