MEDITATION When I first started doing yoga I started doing it for fun because I was bored in a gym. The more I was practicing it the more I was discovering: yoga poses, enlightened masters, and sweet Jesus, meditation! What did I do? I went to India to discover the world of yoga and meditation. There was a period in my life which lasted for over 2 years when I was meditating in the morning at 6 am and in the evening at 6pm for one hour, and I don’t count all the meditation practices in between. I was looking for enlightenment and answers to my existential questions, and the only thing I found out - yoga and meditation is a big business nowadays. Let me explain you why. Yoga is cessation of the fluctuations of the mind, when you’re trying to control your thoughts and then at some point eventually stopping them. The thing is - as long as I’m alive my mind will fluctuate, it’s normal and healthy process like cardiogram of the heart. The problem starts when I’m too much in the past or in the future, ignoring my present, that’s where yoga and meditation come in. The purpose of meditation is to bring me back into the present, and start living, feeling, and enjoying it. Are you ready for my next revelation? Some people don’t need yoga or meditation, as they’re already fully present here and now and we call these people “happy” and “content”. The ultimate goal of yoga, and meditation as its part, is to be present here and now. For some people running is a meditation, for some drinking a cup of coffee, for some trekking, for some swimming, for some lifting weights, for some being in nature, and for some sitting with legs crossed and eyes closed. Tell me what is meditation for you?
