So you don’t need to mistake your self for that thing you’re experiencing, just like you don’t fart and think: “Oh no, I am fart!” Or you don’t walk out into the rain and become rain. That’s great because things we don’t own, we don’t need to keep (unless we are thieves keeping lots of things we don’t own). So you can let a mood come and go like any other experience. You don’t have to keep it and try to fix it. You don’t have to get upset when it’s gone because it was never something you had. You don’t have to judge it as meaning anything about you. That mood is not your underwear. You can track moods like maybe you track the weather. But do you want to spend more time and energy on that stuff.
