Posted @withrepost • @holisticallygrace We hear it all the time…“check-in with yourself” Sounds easy enough, until we realize we have no idea what it means or how to do it.⠀.⠀It’s a term I use all the time AND yet I haven’t been doing any of the things that are listed on here. Yup, somehow it had become one of these repeated messages in my brain and vocabulary without any real meaning.⠀.⠀First thing’s first…basics: tune into your body. What bodily sensations am I experiencing? This can look like a body scan. Starting from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet-pay attention to breathing, muscle tension, any inner cues (hunger, thirst), flushed skin, discomfort etc.⠀.⠀Second: tune into your energy. High/medium/low-how has it shifted or changed?⠀.⠀Third: tune into your emotional thermostat. Am I feeling calm/irritable/flustered/ balanced?⠀.⠀Fourth: regulation.
