“Byron Kim’s Sunday Paintings represent the Brooklyn-based artist’s weekly ritual
“Byron Kim’s Sunday Paintings represent the Brooklyn-based artist’s weekly ritual of capturing the sky overlaid with a handwritten, almost diary-like, note. Each tender painting in the series marks both travel and home, and both clear blues and clouds. My personal favorite is from the artist’s time in Colombia, where the cloudy frame still includes a patch of blue and the entry begins ‘Yesterday we took it easy.’ Especially now, let us take it easy on ourselves, grounded by ritual and the changing sky."
