I recently discovered something about myself…self awareness is a love language for me and so I suffer in relationships/friendships with people who aren’t self aware. I’m not perfect. No one is perfect but I can confidently say that for at least the past 10 years of my life I’ve been consistently checking myself for the parts of me that need growth. It helps me a LOT when others can be mirrors for me to show me things I cannot see about myself. So it’s difficult for me to relate to anyone is isn’t self aware and they aren’t doing any kind of self exploration so there’s no self improvement. It’s even worse when I try to be a mirror for them and they either refuse to look or gaslight me. I’ve learned to walk away from those types of relationships because I’m the one who suffers.
