How can we engage in co-regulation?•There are three helpful steps!1. Notice- How are you feeling in your body? What emotions can you name for yourself? How do they impact the way you show up in different situations and relationships?2. Pause- Create some distance between what has been evoked and what your reaction may have been. Take deep, slow deliberate breaths and engage your logical AND emotional mind. How would you like to respond now?3. Engage Physically- Take steps to connect either through hug, touch, skin to skin contact or even eye contact if physical touch is not comfortable.•Our nervous systems are wired for connection, and healing takes place in safe relationships. Try this with your child, partner, friend the next time there is a distressing situation. Focus on the feelings rather than the behaviour!
